Sri Lanka: ammunition shipment explodes, 27 dead

In Sri Lanka, the death toll has been revised downwards. At least 27 people were killed in the accidental explosion of several shipments of ammunition. For security reasons, the explosives were stored in a police station. They jumped out as the police handed them over to Chinese contractors.

The builders wanted to use the charges to detonate rocks in order to build a road. The drama took place near the town of Batticaloa, an area that was long dominated by Tamil rebels.

Until 2009, the attacks carried out by the Marxist rebellion were frequent here, and the survivors of this accident cannot help but have doubts about the nature of this explosion.
