Microsoft discontinues Windows service: radical change for users

The Internet giant Microsoft Windows has made a big change for users: The 25-year-old web browser, Internet Explorer, is being taken offline for good.

Seattle / USA – Most people know it and have used it in the past: Internet Explorer. However, there is bad news for anyone who still uses the web browser. Microsoft Windows is finally taking the application offline as the number of users continues to decline. But until when do users have time to switch?

Hammer at Microsoft: Well-known service is being discontinued by Internet giant

Internet Explorer appeared on August 16, 1995 and has been the favorite among Internet browsers for years. The application was often already pre-installed on Microsoft devices. In the meantime, however, the web browser has lost its popularity. That means the end for Internet Explorer.

After 25 years on the market, only 1.39 percent worldwide use it, according to a survey. This means that the 25-year-old web browser is barely in the top ten, but that no longer seems to be enough. Therefore, operator Microsoft has decided to take it off the network.

In the future, users will be able to use the “Chrome” browser from competitor Google instead of Internet Explorer. With almost 40 percent of users in the older version and around 15 percent in the newer version, this is currently the market leader for Internet applications. However, those who want to remain loyal to Microsoft can use the “Edge” program (more digital topics on RUHR24).

Internet Explorer will soon no longer be available: Web browser will be taken offline – changes for users

The last day of Internet Explorer is June 15, 2022. This means that users still have more than a year to think about which web browser they want to use in the near future. But the decision shouldn’t be made at the last minute.

Because as soon as Internet Explorer is taken offline, all data and bookmarks are gone. It is therefore advisable to find a replacement as early as possible in order to have enough time to set up the new browser.

Changes in Microsoft Windows 10 and Internet Explorer: Internet giant discontinues services

Microsoft recently discontinued a service for the Windows 10 operating system for computers. Users had until May 11th (Tuesday) to update the version 1909. If you haven’t done this, you could soon face a problem if there are complications. Because since then there has been no more technical support for the affected version. These include, for example, security updates that are no longer carried out.

There were also new updates on Whatsapp. However, these tend to please the user rather than cause problems. The updates are a new feature in the preview of the images, which will soon no longer be displayed in 1: 1 format, but larger. Much of the image was previously cut off. In addition, the messenger service is currently testing a way that users can play voice messages faster and thus save time. Users already have this option with competitor Telegram, for example.
