The end of the war against the Tamil guerrillas rejoices the Sri Lankans

The announcement of the surrender of the Tamil rebels was greeted with joy in Colombo. No human tide in the streets, but a few festive scenes that come to greet the end of a 30 years war.

Now we and the next generation can live happily because we have the certainty that the war is over ”. Sri Lankan flags have flown all over the streets of the capital to celebrate the total victory of the Sri Lankan army. May 22 should be proclaimed a public holiday, and dubbed “national liberation day”.
