The Federal Office of Justice has initiated two fine proceedings against Telegram. Complaints about criminal content should be easier with the messenger service, complains the authority.

Berlin – The Federal Ministry of Justice takes action against the messenger service Telegram. The reason is that opportunities to complain about criminal content are not easily recognizable and accessible, explained a spokeswoman in Berlin. However, this is what the Network Enforcement Act prescribes.

In addition, it was not clear where Telegram courts could turn if someone took legal action against the company, it said. The Network Enforcement Act allows users of social networks to go to court if they see their rights not being protected.

Formally responsible is the Federal Office of Justice, located at the Ministry of Justice, which, according to the spokeswoman, is conducting two fine proceedings in the matter. Two letters were sent to Telegram in the United Arab Emirates. The company can now comment on the allegations.
