Spotify, PayPal, Twitter -Mega disruption paralyzes numerous Internet sites worldwide – Amazon service is probably to blame

There are currently restrictions on various services such as Amazon, Spotify, PayPal and Co. Customers report malfunctions when logging in or in normal operation of the services. This is probably due to a bug in the Amazon Web Services in the background.

As the malfunction page shows, problems have been increasing with a number of online services such as PayPal, Spotify, Amazon, Twitter and Twitch since Tuesday morning. Users complain about major problems with registration and usage on social media.

The malfunctions can be traced back to problems with the content delivery network and cloud provider fastly. The company’s official service status has already confirmed several server failures.

Amazon, Spotify and PayPal down – cloud provider corrects errors after a malfunction

Reported locations with disruptions in Germany include Hamburg, Munich, Berlin, Düsseldorf, Bremen and Frankfurt am Main. Thus, the disturbance seems to occur not only in isolated cases, but in places throughout Germany; the live malfunction map also shows problems with the services in other countries around the world.

British and American news websites such as the New York Times and the BBC are also badly affected. An error message was displayed instead of the content. Even the British region was affected at times. The British “Guardian” wrote on Twitter that its website is currently “affected by a major Internet failure”, but will be available again as soon as possible.

It is not yet known when the problems will be completely eliminated. “We are currently investigating possible effects on the functionality of our CDN services,” said the fastly website in the morning. The provider later announced that the problem had been identified and would be resolved. After about an hour, the websites gradually came back online. At around 12:57 p.m., a status page from fastly said that the error had been fixed.
