Probably the best-known communication platform, “Teams” from Microsoft, is to get a new feature in July. And users are already familiar with this from messengers such as WhatsApp.
Germany – Microsoft Teams is undoubtedly one of the big winners of the corona pandemic. Whether through the obligation to work from home, the restriction of private meetings or homeschooling – communication has increasingly shifted from analog to digital life. This is why the office program, which is popular around the world, is now to be given a new function – and thus ties in with classic messengers such as WhatsApp (more news about everything digital on RUHR24).
WhatsApp competition? After Corona high, teams want to become more attractive for private users
As the Microsoft united portal reports, the feature is to be rolled out as early as July. The portal speculates that teams want to take into account the fact that with falling corona numbers there is also more presence in offices and schools. In order not to be sidelined, so the conclusion of Windows United, Microsoft is trying to establish itself among the messengers.
WhatsApp in particular has been making negative headlines for months because of the supposed consequences for those who refuse to accept the new terms and conditions. An opportunity for alternatives like Telegram, the signal celebrated by Tesla boss Elon Musk – and Microsoft Teams too?
Microsoft teams: Chat bubbles are intended to simplify chatting during the meeting
Specifically, you want to simplify chatting during a meeting first. For this purpose, teams are to get a new chat bubbles (speech bubbles) function.
Because currently it is still quite time-consuming to chat while you are in a meeting. To do this, users must first manually open the chat window within the meeting and then scroll down to see what is being entered there.
Microsoft: Chat Bubbles – Meetings get a new function
That should change now. Soon it will be possible to see what is being entered in the chat of a meeting without having to open the chat window.
Microsoft itself writes about this in the 365 roadmap: “Chats sent during a Teams meeting are displayed on the screens of all meeting participants, making the chat more central to the conversation.”
The new chat bubbles are displayed on the participants’ screens. And it allows users to join the discussion without having to switch to the chat screen.
Microsoft Teams: New chat bubbles are based on Messenger messages
Similar to instant messengers such as Telegram or WhatsApp, chat bubbles appear on the display when a new message comes in, the chat bubble for teams will also appear centrally on the screen.
Microsoft is leaning the chat bubble on the new cell phone messages. Because when new messages are received, such a bubble appears on the screen on the mobile phone and remains present for a few seconds. You can go to the corresponding chat by simply clicking on the symbol.
The chat bubble feature was first mentioned in the roadmap in July 2020. According to the current status, it should be introduced in mid-July 2021 and be available to all users at the end of July.

Competitive even without a pandemic: Teams introduces functions for consumers
According to the Windows Latest portal, the feature should be a measure to improve the chat experience in teams. As Chip.de recently reported, Teams is currently releasing new features unusually quickly.
On the one hand to leave the competition behind – but above all to become more attractive for private users. At the end of 2020, Microsoft announced that it would expand Teams to include functions that put consumers in the foreground – for example, that users could add saved contacts to a Teams group chat, even if they were not yet registered for Teams. Nevertheless: It remains to be seen whether the communication software will really catch on in the private sector.
