To All Foreign Nationals Visiting Sri Lanka:
It has been revealed that many foreign nationals who arrive as tourists to Sri Lanka are engaged in various activities, which are prohibited by law. Therefore it is hereby notified that from 1st November 2006 that tourists from the listed countries are given 30 days landing visa on arrival are expected to leave Sri Lanka at the end of the stipulated period.
All categories of persons who are expected to engage in paid or unpaid business, trade, work, investments or studies should obtain the necessary entry visa from Sri Lanka Missions abroad with my approval.
Please note that under any circumstances no visitor visas will be converted to Residence/Working Visas.

About Your Passport
Check whether
- The validity period is sufficient for your travel purposes
[06 months + Period of stay overseas]
- There are any restrictive endorsements
- There are sufficient blank pages for Visa Endorsements
- Pages are intact
- There are any unauthorized endorsements
- Embarkation/ disembarkation is stamped properly
Complete
- Information as requested in Pg 13 or 45 or 61 [Important Page] in your passport to notify the death or
accident to your next of kin.
Do Not
- Posses more than one valid Passport / Travel Document concurrently
- Try to send your Passport by Post / Courier or through a known party to or from Sri Lanka, without written permission from the Controller.
Inform
- Local / Overseas Police if your Passport is lost / stolen.
Note: You are liable to pay an additional levy when applying in lieu of a lost Passport.
Keep
- Your Passport in a secured place. Keep photo copies of the Data Pages / Valid Visa Pages separately
- A record of the Passport Number in your diary for future reference.
