Authentication & Attestation of Documents

Please hand over original document(s) which needs to be authenticated or attested to the Consulate General during the consular hours.
$30 will be charged for following type of documents:

• Legalisation of document
• Affidavits
• Power of Attorney

Other Information

• Payment should be made in cash at the counter or by Postal Orders/Bank Drafts written in favour of the "Consulate General of Sri Lanka" if sent by post. Personal cheques and credit cards are not accepted. All original certificates will be returned after perusal .
• If the certificates and documents are to be returned by post, include $20/- (if you are within the California State) and $25/- (if you are outside the State) being the courier charge, at the time of submitting your application.
• If the applicant is unable to come personally to this Consulate General to collect the Certificate/ documents, he/she may authorise another person, in writing. The person who comes for collection of documents should produce his identity and the original receipt issued by this Consulate General.

SUBMISSION OF FORGED BIRTH CERTIFICATES OR ANY OTHER DOCUMENTS IS AN OFFENCE. SUCH CASES WILL BE REPORTED TO RELEVANT AUTHORITIES AND PAYMENTS WILL NOT BE REFUNDED.
